This workshop explores Human Kind's obsession with the stars. It teaches the children about the history of space exploration from the early astronomers such as Galileo to the later moon landings of the 1960s. The presenter talks about space exploration using unmanned probes such as Voyager in 1980 and Cassini in 2009.

Our attention is then turned to the Apollo moon missions. Real life pictures of the Saturn V, as well as the launch videos. The dome is turned into the inside of a space ship to take the children on a journey to the moon. This is then followed with footage of the surface of the Moon and stills of the Apollo capsule. The Moon landings are then shown with buggy and moon walk videos.

The professor will then use the dome to explore space with the class; taking a look at the solar system and its components e.g. Jupiter, the planet would then be examined in more detail with real life stills of the Great Red Spot, and the Jupiter Moon system. The presenter would explain how Galileo saw Jupiter and moons through his telescope, the daily rotation of the moons. Close-ups of Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto are also then shown.

If that wasn't enough fun, they will have free access to our dinosaur den and sensory rooms, where they have numerous interactive activities and real fossils. This workshop is suitable for children aged 3 years and upwards, and will last an hour.

We do require a parent or guardian to stay with attending children for all of our sessions. One £6.00 (£5.00 + VAT) ticket entitles 1 CHILD and 1 ADULT to attend a Science Zone Workshop. Please note there is an additional charge of £2.00 for any extra non participating children or adult up to a maximum of 3 due to space restrictions.
We recommend to book online in advance to avoid disappointments. For any inquire call us on 01202 729206 or e-mail sciencezoneuk@gmail.com

They will also learn about rockets and make their own rockets!. To top up the fun we'll go outside to pop them up and observe how high they can go.

This activity is one of the most popular among the kids as it's really good fun!
